Helping Teens Cope with a Pressure-Packed World |
|
For nearly 15 years, a unique program called
Drug Free Youth in Town (DFYIT) has been
supporting the development of kids between
the ages of 10 and 18 who choose to live a
healthy, drug-free lifestyle. By providing drug
information, as well as opportunities to learn
leadership skills through community service
activities and educational field trips, DFYIT
has helped thousands of kids to make the
right choices in life.
IT's drug and alcohol prevention
programs, or "clubs," are currently in 63
schools in Miami-Dade County. Clubs are led
by students who elect their own officers and
decide what activities are best for their group.
Using positive peer reinforcement and positive peer pressure, along with visible community
involvement, DFYIT is making a difference.
More than 7,000 students are involved in
DFYIT today, and proudly claim over a 99%
drug-free rate!
Like most non-profit organizations,
DFYIT relies on grants, sponsorships and
donations to provide its programs and activities.
Through your support, DFYIT can reach even
more at risk youth struggling with the challenges
of today's pressure-packed world.
